Contractor Selection
- Beware of contractors who can do start the same day or even the next day. During peak season most reputable contractors are booked well in advance.
- Beware of contractors who’s price is much cheaper then the other estimates. This usually means they are cutting corners to save money, which may be more costly to you in the long run.
- Beware of contractors who are overly aggressive, we believe in a more laid back approach and we will still be here when you need us.
- Beware of contractors who do not have any insurance. Who will pay if a hose or pressure washer tip breaks a window?
- Beware of contractors who advertise the lowest price, but have tacky add-ons for gas, & cleaning solutions.
- Beware of contractors who sell a honeytone gold TWP stain. It does not exist, the stain is thinned with mineral spirits thus reducing the life and effectiveness of the stain.
- Ask if they have a portfolio.
- Ask if they have pictures of completed projects.
- Ask how to get in contact with them. Do they have a website, business cards, affliations (We are members of the Waterford Chamber of Commerce)
- Ask what their cleaning process consists of.
- Ask if their chemicals are environmentally friendly.
- Ask them how many projects they have completed, and how long they have been in business.
- Remember to get a signed contract to ensure you are getting what you expected and at the price you agreed to.
- Remember most established contractors do not need any money up front. We take 33% after the deck has been cleaned and the other 67% after you are happy with the way your deck/project has turned out.
- Remember your instincts are probably right, if something doesn’t seem right it probably isn’t.
