Two Tone Deck Staining
Most decks you see today are single tone decks. Meaning the same color stain is used to cover both the vertical and horizontal surfaces. But there is a trend showing more and more that two tone deck are popular from a visual and economical standpoint.
Two tone decks are visually appealing as the tones can accent the home colors or provide a nice contrast with the landscaping. It also makes your home stand out in a positive way especially in some of the newer fence-less yard subdivisions with a shared common area.
Two tone decks are initially a little more expensive because of the time of prep work and attention to detail keeping the colors separated, but the long term maintenance costs are lower. A solid color stain will hide flaws of the vertical elements and will last a lot longer. Therefore the vertical surfaces may not need to be re coated for many years. This saves you money because we can put you on a maintenance program to do a light wash on the vertical surfaces and strip the horizontal surfaces and re coat. If there is less wood to cover your costs will go down on future visits.
One thing to note is that some (HOAs) Home Owners Association have strict guidelines for upkeep. Please check with you HOA before selecting a tone tone deck option as stain is the hardest to remove when it was just applied.
Note: If you look in many of the stain brochures you will see pictures of two toned decks which really create a nice atmosphere for relaxing and entertaining.
